Providence Recruits to Play in 2015 Big Strick Classic

The Big Strick Classic is a basketball-junkie’s dream that takes place each summer after the live periods of July have come and gone. Players from all across the country will travel to NYC to take on the best that NYC has to offer. The 2015 version of the tournament — named in honor of the late NYC streetball legend John “Big Strick” Strickland — is the 5th annual and features a number of Providence recruits, as well as many top national recruits in the classes of 2016, 2017 and a few from 2018.

The game unfortunately coincides with Providence’s Elite Camp being held on campus on August 8th, but those in the NYC area would be well served by checking out this event that is free and open to the public. The festivities begin Friday, August 7th at 1pm with open practice followed by 4:15pm EDT scrimmage. Both take place at Dyckman Park. There are two games on Saturday at Gauchos Gym: a regional game and a national game. The regional game (Team Armoni vs. Team Escalade) begins at 6pm EDT and the national game (USA Team vs. NYC Team) at 8pm EDT. There is also a 3-point shooting contest and dunk contest that will be held prior to the start of the regional game.
