Providence Recruiting Guide to the Second April 2017 Live Evaluation Period

The second and final live recruiting period of April is here to close out the live evaluation periods until July. Providence’s coaches were at all of the major shoe company events last weekend between Hampton, VA, Dallas, TX and NYC. Week two of the Nike EYBL will be in Indianapolis and they are joined in Indy by Under Armour’s Association. The adidas Gauntlet series heads to Atlanta this weekend.

As I traditionally do each spring and summer, I’ll be providing a guide for fans to follow along and see where Providence’s targets are playing during a given live evaluation period. This post will be updated as the weekend goes on and more information is known. The name of the assistant next to the player’s name indicates who the lead assistant is for that player and does not necessarily mean that coach will be at that event Continue reading Providence Recruiting Guide to the Second April 2017 Live Evaluation Period

Providence Recruiting Guide to the First April 2017 Live Evaluation Period

The first live recruiting period of April is upon us and the Providence coaches are expected to hit the ground running to find future Friars all across the USA this weekend. The major shoe companies have their opening weekends with Nike’s EYBL starting off in Hampton, VA, Under Armour’s Association beginning in NYC for the second straight year and the adidas Gauntlet series kicks off from Dallas, TX. You can also listen to the latest Friartown Fan Voice podcast where, among other interesting topics, Brendan McGair and I previewed the first live period of April.

Providence’s Season is Over but Recruiting Never Stops

Providence has two committed players coming to campus for the 2017-18 season in big men Dajour Dickens and Nate Watson. Dickens has been committed since February 2016 and Watson pledged to Cooley in September but don’t be surprised if Providence adds a player in April, May or even June.

Providence to Host 2017 Greg Elliott for Official Visit

Corey Evans of Rivals.com tweeted on Monday evening that Providence is expected to host 2017 East English Village (Detroit) guard Greg Elliott this upcoming weekend for an official visit. This news comes a week after an interview with Elliott at Landof10.com in which Elliott indicated Providence would be getting one of his three remaining official visits. Evans also reported that Elliott will visit Marquette the following weekend, which is the final weekend of the Big East regular season with all ten schools in action on that Saturday.

Happy Monday, Friar fans! While some of you may be nursing an Alumni & Family Weekend hangover I’ll do my best to give you some news and notes from around the Providence basketball world to get you caught up on the on-court product and recent recruiting tidbits. Obviously Saturday’s win was a big one against 22nd-ranked Butler in front of a sold-out crowd at the Dunk, but the Friars still have a lot of work left to do if they want to keep dancing in March for a fourth straight season.
