  • Ed Cooley shook things up — sort of — by returning to the starting lineup he used for the first 9 games of the season: Dunn, Lomomba, Fazekas, Bullock, Bentil. The change from recent games was inserting Ryan Fazekas in place of Kyron Cartwright and the Friars got off to a fast start, leading, 9-3, 2:29 into this game. They led by as much as 26 in the first half, but almost gave it all away in the second half. The Hoyas got the game within 1, but some clutch free throws saved the day.
  • Rodney Bullock came to play today. The Friar sophomore was red hot to the tune of 18 points on 6/9 shooting, including 3/4 from beyond the arc. He also added 4 first half rebounds, 2 on the offensive end of the floor. In the second half, Bullock was held largely in check, but he hit two critical free throws in the final minute.
  • Kris Dunn looked way more relaxed this afternoon and was letting the game come to him. Dunn scored 20 points, dished out 5 assists and grabbed 9 rebounds. He added 2 steals and is 1 shy of 200 for his career. If Dunn manages to keep this type of play up, the final 5 league games will be a lot better for the Friars.
  • Ben Bentil started and looked slightly more comfortable on the court and was seen skying for a few rebounds, something he hasn’t been able to do lately with a balky right ankle. Bentil finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds. He was 9/10 from the free throw line and sunk a pair with 8 seconds left to keep the margin at 3 for Georgetown’s final possession.
  • Ryan Fazekas finished with 8 points on 2/6 from the field. He went 1/5 from beyond the 3-point line.
  • Key stats for Providence were free throw disparity — they went 27-36 against Georgetown’s 14-16 — and rebounds where the Friars owned a 36-28 advantage.
  • The Friars return to action on Wednesday, February 17th against Xavier at the Cintas Center at 7:00pm EST. The game will be televised on FS1.

Friars are going to be a dangerous team in March if they get Bullock, Bentil and Dunn giving a max effort every night. Along with players like Lomomba, Fazekas, Lindsey, Edwards, Cartwright and Q this team could make noise at MSG.
