Vermont Academy Duo Reportedly a Package Deal, Friars Have Offered Both
HoopDreamsMag.com released an article on Tuesday in which the Vermont Academy duo of Bruce Brown and Tyrique Jones, both of the class of 2016, said they are a package deal and plan on attending the same college. “Me and Bruce talked about it and we plan to attend school together,” said Jones. Brown confirmed by saying “yes me and Tyrique would like to attend school together.” Providence offered Jones recently after watching him play at the Hoop Mountain Prep Classic.
These package deals very rarely even pan out. Many times the players talk about it casually but, in the end, realize that different schools offer the best opportunity for them individually. If a package deal does come to fruition though this twosome would be fantastic to grab. Brown is one of the best guards in the class and Jones is a tenacious rebounder. Brown is ranked 47th nationally by 247sports composite national ranking and Jones is 101st. Brown runs with BABC on the grassroots circuit while Jones runs with Expressions Elite.
Per the HoopDreamsMag.com article, the players overlapping offers to date are: Providence, URI, Texas Tech and Xavier.
Brown has offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Boston College, Indiana, Iowa State, Miami (FL), Minnesota, Providence, Temple, Texas Tech, UMass, URI, VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Xavier. Jones has offers from Cincinnati, Kansas State, Providence, Texas Tech, UMass, URI and Xavier with “interest from over 15 others”, per the article.
Jackson Fambrough’s 2016 PASR Recruiting Forecast model shows Providence with a 19% chance of landing Brown behind Wake Forest (23%) and Xavier (30%). Providence isn’t listed among Jones’ offers in the model. The model was last updated on December 18th.
