LaDontae Henton Named CBSSports.com’s National Player of the Week

Ed Cooley talked postgame Sunday about how he was hoping LaDontae Henton would remain under the radar. After this weekend’s performance of 62 points in two wins against ACC teams on a neutral floor combined with his team leading 12 points against Binghamton Monday and 22 points against Navy Thursday, both wins, Henton averaged 24 points per game during week 2 of the college basketball season. Those kinds of numbers, including a career high 38 points on national television Sunday afternoon are bound to garner some national attention. CBSSports.com has named Henton their National Player of the Week.

Henton’s season average of 23.4 point per game is good for 9th nationally at the moment and he is shooting the best percentage from the field (56.4%) and 3 point line (42.9%) of his career by far. It’s only 5 games but what is becoming more clear to the national media and national fans is what Providence fans have known for years now: LaDontae Henton is a player.
