  • Providence got off the snide, as my friend Vince said, with this home win against Georgetown. The Friars improve to 1-2 in league play while Georgetown drops to 0-3.
  • The Friars were led by Jalen Lindsey who scored 19 points on 5/8 shooting. He also held Rodney Pryor to 14 points who was averaging 20.5 points/game coming in. Lindsey also had 4 rebounds and played 40 minutes.
  • Providence got balanced scoring for a change with Emmitt Holt scoring 17 points, Kyron Cartwright scoring 15 points and Rodney Bullock putting in 15 points. The Friars also got 7 points and 4 rebounds from Alpha Diallo off the bench. He was a key reserve for Ed Cooley tonight.
  • Georgetgown was the team that got to the free throw line coming in but it was Providence who lived at the charity stripe tonight. Providence went 22-30 from the line while the Hoyas were just 8-16.
  • The Friars stay home and will welcome in 10th-ranked Creighton on Saturday, January 7th at 2:00pm EST. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
