Joe Lunardi’s Latest Bracket Math Released with Full 68-Team Seed List

Joe Lunardi released an updated bracket on December 8th and followed that up with an edition of Bracket Math on December 15th. On December 21st, Lunardi released his most detailed version of Bracket Math, to date. He has all 68 teams seeded, including all the 1-bid league conference leaders and a total of 80 teams on his seed list. Lunardi continues to have 5 Big East teams in his field of 68, with Xavier, Butler, Villanova and Georgetown making the biggest moves of anyone in the league. Xavier and Butler made positive move, while Villanova and Georgetown slid down the seed list.

Notes: CAPS are AQ’s – Seed lines aren’t exactly as they would be due to their being either four 11 seeds or four 12 seeds once the actual field is determined.

Xavier maintains their top spot on the latest release of the RPI rankings. The Musketeers have moved up a line on Lunardi’s latest Bracket Math release and are now a 2 seed in the 6th slot. Villanova has hit a rough patch of their season and have slid off the 3 line and are now on the 4 line. Butler has made a huge jump from the top 5 seed to the top 4 seed right behind Louisville. Providence didn’t move an inch since Lunardi’s last Bracket Math release. The Friars are still 18th on the seed list and squarely on the 5 line. Georgetown has been in a bit of a free fall of late and they have fallen all the way from an 8 seed last time Lunardi released the seed list to being part of the “First Four Out” group now. Marquette remains the very first team out of the field in the same group as Georgetown and that’s where Lunardi had the Golden Eagles last time. Michigan Stat remains in the top overall slot, though they will have to survive 2-3 weeks without Denzel Valentine, who had a minor knee procedure on Monday. Arizona is one slot behind Butler on the 4 line.

This  is the first full release of the Bracket Math for Lunardi this season, to my knowledge, and he has the most detail in this release with a ful seed list out to 80 teams. Even though it’s early for bracektology and seed lists, it’s still fun to track everyone’s progress from the bracektology perspective as often as possible, at least that’s my opinion. I plan on releasing my bracket on a weekly basis as we get closer to actual March Madness. For now, it will just have to be Christmas Madness.
