Joe Lunardi considers the following Big East teams to have a 90% or better chance of making it to the NCAA Tournament:
- Villanova
- Georgetown
- Butler
- Providence
- St. John’s
- Xavier
That means it appears the Big East will get 60% of it’s teams into the field of 68. The only conference to have a higher percentage of their team’s in Lunardi’s bracket on March 9th is the Big 12 who has 70% of their league in the field.
Here is a breakdown of where the 6 Big East teams fall on the seed lines Lunardi’s latest bracket:
- Villanova – #1 seed in Wast vs. #16 St. Francis (NY) – AQ for Big East
- Georgetown- #6 seed in East vs. #11 Oklahoma State
- Butler- #6 seed in South vs. #11 Temple/Texas
- Providence – #6 seed in West vs. #11 Purdue
- St. John’s – #8 seed in East vs. #9 Dayton
- Xavier – #9 seed in South vs. #8 Davidson
