CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm Releases Updated Bracketology 1/5/15

To go along with ESPN’s Joe Lunardi releasing an updated bracket on Monday CBSSports didn’t want to be left out so Jerry Palm also updated his bracket. Palm was slightly less bullish on the Big East but still had 5 teams in his field of 68. I think Palm’s 5 is probably a more realistic number come March than Lunardi’s 7 because the middle of this conference is going to beat each other up.

Here is how Palm has the Big East:

Preseason Palm had 4 Big East teams in the field of 68 on November 10, 2014. On January 5, 2015 he has 5. Palm’s preseason had Villanova as a 4 seed in the East Region, Georgetown as an 8 seed in the West Region, Xavier as a 9 seed in the West Region, St. John’s as a 12 seed in the Midwest Region as a “First Round” game against another 12 seed. This is how Palm now sees the league:

Villanova – #2 seed in the East Region
Seton Hall – #4 seed in the Midwest Region
Butler – #5 seed in the West Region
St. John’s – #5 seed in the South Region
Georgetown – #9 in the South Region
