Bryan Hodgson called in from the NBA Draft Combine for an appearance on The Kevin Mc Sports Hour with Kevin McNamara on Thursday evening on WPRO. Hodgson talked about some of the upcoming camps, including Elite Camp and the Day in the Life Camp with registration open for all camps. Other notable topics covered were the overall roster with philosophy of playing 4 guards and 1 big and the heavy emphasis on perimeter skill — even from the 4 spot — and versatility. Hodgson talked specifically about Ryan Sabol being one of the best shooters in the portal this year with his 122 made 3’s a season ago at Buffalo being a key piece they were focused on adding in addition to how he sees players like Miles Byrd, Devin Vanterpool and Ryan Mela as being able to play multiple positions and how they value that as a staff. Hodgson touched a bit on the schedule noting that this is the first time he’s come into a job with nearly a full non-conference schedule built and done prior to his arrival which was the case this time at Providence. Hodgson noted there was only one open slot available for his staff to schedule and he’s working on a home-and-home with a high major school that he’s hoping to start this season at the AMP though dates are tricky with the AMP being shared by the Providence Bruins and events like Comic Con and Disney on Ice eating up weekend dates in November and December.
