Providence’s Balanced Scoring Leads to Road Win at Creighton, 74-65

Providence traveled to Creighton on Saturday night and both teams were looking to rebound from losses. The difference was that Providence had 3 league wins coming in and Creighton was 0-5. The Bluejays will have to wait a little longer to get in the win column in Big East play as the Friars got the road win on a night when the CenturyLink Center was sold out and “pinked out” for breast cancer awareness.

Kris Dunn was the leading force for Providence with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. But the story in this game was that Providence had tremendous balance in the scoring department. In addition to Dunn’s 21 points the Friars also got 18 from LaDontae Henton, 9 from Carson Desrosiers and 13 from Tyler Harris off the bench. Desrosiers also contributed 8 rebounds and 4 blocks despite dealing with foul trouble for the latter part of the second half.

Creighton was led by James Milliken with 22 points but Providence led fairly comfortably for much of the second half.

Providence will return home on January 22nd to take on Xavier.
