With the first live period of July kicking off later this week Rivals released their updated Class of 2018 Top 150 player rankings on Monday. The Friars are chasing a number of talented prospects among the rising senior class and many of them found their way onto Rivals’ updated list. It’s clearly rankings update season with Scout updating both 2018 and 2019 rankings recently and now ESPN is getting in on the act. There’s been plenty of competitive basketball between two live periods in April, some camps and non-live events in April, May and June and all the services like to update their rankings before the crucial July live periods get underway. Providence currently has five openings for 2018 and Ed Cooley and his staff are still in the running for tons of talented rising seniors, despite getting cut out of Portsmouth-native Cole Swider’s final four schools on Sunday. Here are players Providence is involved with in the class of 2018 on ESPN’s latest Top 100:
Providence has several recruits among the 108 players attending the 2017 NBPA Top 100 camp being held June 13th through 18th at the University of Virginia. This event is typically chock full of talented players in the rising senior and junior classes and it’s no different in 2017. Providence incoming freshman Makai Ashton-Langford attended this camp last year. One other interesting thing to note that usually happens at this event is the June 15th date for coaches to begin to have direct and unlimited contact with rising juniors. That begins at midnight on Thursday. The camp begins today and runs through Sunday.
