The first July live evaluation period has arrived and the Providence coaching staff will be out and about stalking down talented future Friars all across the country over the next few days. A live evaluation period means college coaches are allowed to attend and evaluate recruits at certified events. This particular evaluation period begins on July 12th at 5pm and is active through 5pm on July 16th. All three major shoe company circuits have their playoffs/finals during this first live period of July. Nike has their EYBL Peach Jam, adidas finishes off their Gaunlet series and Under Armour Association finals are also played over the next several days. All three of these events are conveniently located in a nice circle so the coaches can go back and forth between all three major events between now and Sunday.
As I traditionally do each spring and summer, I’ll be providing a guide for fans to follow along and see where Providence’s targets are playing during a given live evaluation period. This post will be updated as the weekend goes on and more information is known. The name of the assistant next to the player’s name indicates who the lead assistant is for that player and does not necessarily mean that coach will be at that event

Rivals expanded and updated their class of 2019 recruit rankings on Tuesday just ahead of the first live period of July that begins at 5pm on Wednesday. After updating and expanding from 75 to 100 before the April live periods, Rivals has added another 25 names to the list again with a Top 125 for the rising junior class. The Friars have already begun forging relationships with many highly ranked recruits in the rising junior class and many of these players reportedly got calls from the Providence coaching staff on or after the June 15th start date for direct contact. The staff will be out on the recruiting trail seeing many of these players over the next few weeks.

With the Spring live periods of April and the various non-live period events in May in the rear-view mirror Scout.com released an updated and expanded Class of 2019 rankings on Thursday. The previous rankings were only a Top 60. The Friar staff is still looking into adding a player for next season and the main focus beyond that is the Class of 2018, but it’s key for relationship building to start as early as possible. Unlimited electronic communication just started for coaches and members of the 2019 class on June 15th at midnight. Rivals expanded and updated their class of 2019 recruit rankings on Thursday with with mere hours to go until the start of the first April live period. The recruiting service bumped the rising junior class rankings from a Top 75 to a Top 100 and there proved to be little change in terms of where Providence’s recruits were ranked. A few new names were added to the mix with the additional 25 ranked spots and Providence has already cast a net over some very talented players who will be evaluated more closely in the upcoming months on the various grassroots circuits beginning on Friday.
