Providence Recruiting Guide to the Third July 2017 Live Evaluation Period

The third and final July live evaluation period has arrived and the Providence coaching staff will be out and about stalking down talented future Friars all across the country over the next few days. A live evaluation period means college coaches are allowed to attend and evaluate recruits at certified events. This particular evaluation period begins on July 26th at 5pm and is active through 5pm on July 30th. The third and final live period is very heavy on events in Las Vegas and don’t be surprised to see the same team criss-crossing all over town to play in more than one event throughout the live period.

As I traditionally do each spring and summer, I’ll be providing a guide for fans to follow along and see where Providence’s targets are playing during a given live evaluation period. This post will be updated as the weekend goes on and more information is known. The name of the assistant next to the player’s name indicates who the lead assistant is for that player and does not necessarily mean that coach will be at that event

Providence Recruiting Guide to the Second July 2017 Live Evaluation Period

The second July live evaluation period has arrived and the Providence coaching staff will be out and about stalking down talented future Friars all across the country over the next few days. A live evaluation period means college coaches are allowed to attend and evaluate recruits at certified events. This particular evaluation period begins on July 19th at 5pm and is active through 5pm on July 23rd. With all three major shoe company circuits holding their finals events during the first live period, the second live period features more camp events, as well as some more traditional grassroots tournaments with pool and bracketed play all starting and ending this week/weekend.

Providence Recruiting Guide to the First July 2017 Live Evaluation Period

The first July live evaluation period has arrived and the Providence coaching staff will be out and about stalking down talented future Friars all across the country over the next few days. A live evaluation period means college coaches are allowed to attend and evaluate recruits at certified events. This particular evaluation period begins on July 12th at 5pm and is active through 5pm on July 16th. To read about why the July live periods are so crucial for recruiting, check out this excellent article by Rob Dauster at College Basketball Talk. All three major shoe company circuits have their playoffs/finals during this first live period of July. Nike has their EYBL Peach Jam, adidas finishes off their Gaunlet series and Under Armour Association finals are also played over the next several days. All three of these events are conveniently located in a nice circle so the coaches can go back and forth between all three major events between now and Sunday.

Rivals Released Updated Class of 2019 Top 125 Ahead of July Live Periods

Rivals expanded and updated their class of 2019 recruit rankings on Tuesday just ahead of the first live period of July that begins at 5pm on Wednesday. After updating and expanding from 75 to 100 before the April live periods, Rivals has added another 25 names to the list again with a Top 125 for the rising junior class. The Friars have already begun forging relationships with many highly ranked recruits in the rising junior class and many of these players reportedly got calls from the Providence coaching staff on or after the June 15th start date for direct contact. The staff will be out on the recruiting trail seeing many of these players over the next few weeks.

Rivals Released Expanded and Updated Class of 2019 Top 100 Recruit Rankings

Rivals expanded and updated their class of 2019 recruit rankings on Thursday with with mere hours to go until the start of the first April live period. The recruiting service bumped the rising junior class rankings from a Top 75 to a Top 100 and there proved to be little change in terms of where Providence’s recruits were ranked. A few new names were added to the mix with the additional 25 ranked spots and Providence has already cast a net over some very talented players who will be evaluated more closely in the upcoming months on the various grassroots circuits beginning on Friday.

Scout’s Expanded and Updated Class of 2019 Top 60 Player Rankings Released

Providence is hosting a 2017 guard recruit for an official visit this weekend but it’s never to early to look ahead. Providence Recruiting Update: Introducing the Class of 2019

It’s September 27th and Providence has two commitments for the Class of 2017 to fill the two scholarships that were available for next year’s roster at the present. While the coaching staff hasn’t totally stopped keeping tabs on 2017 targets, much of the recruiting attention has already shifted to both the Class of 2018 and Class of 2019. As of today, pcbb1917.com now has a “Class of 2019” page. There are only 8 recruits there right now compared to over 30 on the page for the Class of 2018, so let’s take this opportunity to meet some of the players the Providence coaching staff has already identified — and offered in many cases — from the class of current high school sophomores.
