A new #Mindset tips off in Friartown against Columbia on November 6th and with that a return of this fine website to more regular operations. While there hasn’t been much content posted here or podcasts recorded recently, I’ve continued to tweet and, of course, the Slack community is a daily conversation with some great folks that are passionate about Friartown. To those that may have felt abandoned or angered by the lack of posts here let me just say that this. Was it hard to stop posting? 1,000 percent. But parenting is change. And change is healthy. I understand the bitterness that comes with that. I promise you I’m excited to get back here this year. But I’m not apologizing for taking care of my life. End of discussion.
Now that we’ve gotten that bit of ancient history out of the way…
Let’s talk about the present and the future. You may have noticed you don’t see old posts on here anymore. I spent some time doing some clean up with the intent on making the site a little bit cleaner to view and interact with while also acknowledging that this is a new time in Friartown. Kim English is in the head coaching seat now and I want to ensure that the focus of the content here is not about the past — good, bad, rosie and ugly — but on the current team and the future of building on everything that was accomplished by Ed Cooley in his tenure as the head coach of his hometown team.
As for what to expect, there will be postings by me on a regular basis, and I’ll have some additional voices appearing on the page. You’ll be introduced to those as the season unfolds. I also would like to get back to doing some sort of regular podcast here with the Providence Friarcast. While I haven’t quite figured out what that looks like yet, I am also going to be joining Brendan McGair for a podcast he’s hosting this season, which should be fun.
It was a loooooooooooooong offseason that was filled with many different emotions. While some of the things that occured in late February/early March feel like they happened so long ago, I realize there is still plenty of that emotion hanging around. Let’s focus our energy on this current group which is, on paper, one of the best Providence teams in recent memory.

Glad you are back cousin. Your priorities – that beautiful young family – were on the mark.
Now, what did you thin of the game last night?
