Providence welcomed 5th-ranked Xavier to the Dunkin‘ Donuts Center for a 12pm tip. Rodney Bullock returned to the lineup after missing the previous game against Marquette due to the flu. The Friars recovered well from their loss to the Golden Eagles with a solid 40 minute effort led by their defense, especially in the first half. This win marked Providence’s first victory over a top-5 team at the Dunk since they defeated #1 Pittsburgh on February 24, 2009.
Providence was led by Kyron Cartwright with 19 points.
Xavier was led by Kerem Kanter with 24 points.
Providence improves to 11-6 on the season and their record in Big East play is now 2-2.
