  • Providence and St. John’s met for the 111th ever on Thursday night at Carnesecca Arena in Queens. The game was exciting with plenty of up and down action. Kyron Cartwright and Alpha Diallo returned to the starting lineup and that made all the difference for the Friars. Providence ran away with this game behind Cartwright’s 21 points and career-high 15 assists. The Friars made 16/30 attempts from beyond the arc in a relatively dominant performance.
  • Providence was led by Kyron Cartwright with 21 points on 8/11 from the field to go along with a career-high 15 assists.
  • Also in double figures for the Friars were Rodney Bullock (20), Jalen Lindsey (18) and Alpha Diallo (16).
  • St. John’s was led by Marvin Clark with 20 points on 6/13 shooting. Clark also led the Red Storm with 8 rebounds.
  • Also in double figures for the Red Storm were Shamorie Ponds (16) and Bashir Ahmed (12).
  • Ponds apparently sufferered a knee injury and will have an MRI.
  • Providence improved to 10-4 on the season and 1-0 in Big East play.
