- Providence and Washington met at Madison Square Garden as part of the 2017 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. With the win the Friars will face Saint Louis in the championship game on Friday night at 7pm.
- Providence was led by Rodney Bullock with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Bullock appeared more confident and involved from the jump in this game.
- The key for Providence was their bench. Drew Edwards, Maliek White and Nate Watson all provided offense, defense and a spark off the pine. Providence’s bench outscored Washington’s, 25-9. Providence also had five players hit double figures in the scoring column for the game.
- The Friars seemed on the verge of breaking the game open at different times only to allow Washington to hang around.
- Washington was led by Noah Dickerson with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Dickerson fouled out in the final minutes, which seemed to end Washington’s chances of a comeback win.
- The Friars improve to 2-1 on the season and will next play Friday night at Madison Square Garden for the 2017 2K Classic Championship against Saint Louis. The game tips off at 7pm on ESPN2.
