Providence Sophomore Ryan Fazekas to Transfer

The first offseason defection occurred on Wednesday when news broke that Providence sophomore wing Ryan Fazekas would transfer, per Jeff Goodman of ESPN. Fazekas saw his minutes and role diminish greatly in his second season at Providence after starting off hot in his freshman season until that year was derailed by mononucleosis.

Fazekas averaged 3.0 points/game, 1.1 rebounds/game in 11.8 minutes/game this season. That was down from 5.1 points/game, 2.4 rebounds/game and 18.8 minutes/game his freshman year. Fazekas played 58 career games for the Friars and shot 35.4% from 3-point range on 158 career attempts.

Don’t be surprised if this isn’t the first transfer Providence endures this offseason.

Always liked zeke , but I understand his decision. Best of luck to him.

This is no surprise–my wife asked me two months ago if I thought Fazekas would transfer. It’s too bad–he never has been the player that he appeared he would be before mono last season.

Almost seemed to me as though there was some unspoken issue there when his playing time dropped through the floor.
