  • Coming into this game the most questionable player was Providence’s point guard, Kyron Cartwright. In the end, the junior from Compton played 32 minutes on the night and maintained his spot in the starting lineup despite missing the second half against Creighton on Saturday with knee tendinitis. The player Providence was without ended up being Jalen Lindsey who injured his thumb towards the end of Saturday’s loss to Creighton. Freshman Alpha Diallo got his first career start in place of Lindsey.
  • This wasn’t the prettiest game in the Big East this season with the teams combining for 37 turnovers on the night. DePaul turned it over 17 times and Providence coughed it up 20 times.
  • Rodney Bullock got back into the swing of things after struggling of late and led Providence with 18 points on 8/13 shooting. He also added 6 rebounds. His decision to try to slide in front of Billy Garrett, Jr. in the last 5 seconds to cause the and-1 was a critical play.
  • Emmitt Holt was featured early and often for Providence down low and ended the game with 13 points and 8 rebounds despite having to sit some due to foul trouble. He ultimately fouled out but was an important presence down low in this one.
  • Cartwright didn’t do a ton of scoring and certainly didn’t appear at 100% but he did lead the team with 7 assists.
  • Isaiah Jackson scored in double figures, finishing with 12 points and played solid defense all night. He also grabbed 4 rebounds.
  • Ryan Fazekas saw a few more minutes tonight than he has of late and got up 3 shots, all beyond the arc. He missed all 3 but they all appeared to go halfway down. Fazekas needs to see some shots go through the net to regain some confidence.
  • Providence went into a field goal drought at the end of this game. They managed to not convert from the field over the last 4:49.
  • DePaul was led by Billy Garrett, Jr with 14 points, including a crucial and 1 at the end of the game that proved to the winning play. The Blue Demons also got 10 points a piece from Brandon Cyrus and Eli Cain.
  • In the end, Providence essentially gave this game away and they fall to 0-5 on the road this season and 1-4 in Big East play.
  • The Friars return home to take on Seton Hall on Saturday, January 14th at 12:00pm EST. The game will be televised on FSN. Stay tuned for a list of regional networks that will air the game.

Sorry for the team, coaches and fans. Terrible loss. There is only one thing to do. Get off your butts and play ball! This is PC. We never quit. Quitters are burned in effigy. Never forget.
