  • Ben Bentil started this game despite missing practices ahead of this game. He was much more involved in the offense early and finished strong, despite appearing to tweak that right ankle a few times throughout the night. Bentil carried the Friars and scored 42 points for his 3rd 30+ point effort for the season and 1st career 40-point game. That is also a new career high for Bentil. He shot 11/29 on the night, including 6/13 from beyond the arc. He also made 14 of 17 free throw attempts.
  • Kris Dunn wasn’t very aggressive on offense for most of the night, but started to pick things up down the stretch of the second half. He finished with 17 points on 5/9 shooting and fouled out with 43.9 seconds remaining in the overtime. He also dished out 6 assists and eclipsed 500 assists in his career. He becomes the 6th Friar all-time to score 1,000 points and dish 500 assists. He also had 8 rebounds.
  • Jalen Lindsey had an up-and-down game but hit two clutch free throws to tie the game with 8.5 seconds remaining in the first overtime. He also pulled down 8 rebounds on the night.
  • Rodney Bullock was a relative non-factor in this game despite 9 points and 4 rebounds. He also had 4 turnovers and fouled out during regulation.
  • Providence giving up offensive rebounds and second chance points continues to be a problem for the Friars. Marquette grabbed 19 offensive boards and scored 23 second chance points. Marquette also had a big advantage on points in the paint at 46 to 30.
  • The Friars also had 18 turnovers on the night and Marquette scored 20 points off those turnovers.
  • Henry Ellenson didn’t have a great shooting night for Marquette at just 10/22, but he led the Golden Eagles with 26 points and 16 rebounds.
  • Haanif Cheatham also had a good game for Marquette with 21 points on 7/16 shooting.
  • Luke Fischer played well when he was in, but struggled with foul trouble most of the night and fouled out in regulation. He scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds.
  • Providence loses both games to Marquette this season and falls to 0-10 all-times against the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee. The Friars also fall to 6-6 in Big East play and have dropped 3-straight league games.
  • The Friars return to action on Saturday, February 13th against Georgetown at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 12:00pm EST. The game will be televised on FOX.

This team is going in the wrong direction! They are turning out to be a huge disappointment!! If they continue this type of play they will be lucky to get to the NIT!! SMH!!! Kris Dunn in my opinion quit on this team tonight…and played not a great game!! He better figure out quick his job is to PROTECT the basketball!!
