Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: February 1st

Week 13 of the college basketball polls have been released and Providence has fallen out of the top 10 after a 1-1 week that included a home loss to Xavier and a road win at Georgetown . The Friars are now 6-3 in Big East play and they will travel to Chicago for a Tuesday night tilt against DePaul before returning home to take on Villanova on Saturday. This is the first time Providence has been ranked in the AP Poll for 10 straight weeks since the 1977-78 season when the Friars spent the final 13 weeks ranked in the AP Top 25. The Friars moved from 10th to 11th in the AP Poll and from 10th to 11th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.

The Big East

  • Villanova: AP 3 (Prv: 6), Coaches’ 4 (Prv: 6)
  • Xavier: AP 6 (Prv: 7), Coaches’ 5 (Prv: 8)
  • Providence: AP 11 (Prv: 10), Coaches’ 11 (Prv: 10)
  • Others Receiving Votes: Butler (Coaches’ 34 (Prv: 31st)), Seton Hall (Coaches’ 43rd (Prv: NRV)

Providence’s Non-Conference Opponents

  • Michigan State: AP 10 (Prv: 12), Coaches’ 10 (Prv: 11)
  • Arizona: AP 23 (Prv: 18), Coaches’ 20 (Prv: 15)
