Report: Ryan Gomes Signs NBA D-League Contract

It appears Ryan Gomes is taking another shot at the NBA. Chris Reichert of the D-League blog UpsideMotor.com tweeted that Gomes has signed a deal with the NBA D-League, according to a league source. Gomes last played in the NBAĀ for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2013-14 season, though Gomes’ contract was waived by the Boston Celtics after the Thunder traded Gomes to Boston as part of a 3-team deal between Oklahoma City, Boston and Memphis. Gomes’ was waived on January 7, 2014 and last played a game on December 29, 2013 — his last of 5 games played that season for the Thunder — in a 31-point blowout win against Houston.

Gomes’ stats show he played 2 total games for Laboral Kutxa Baskonia — a professional team in Spain — after signing a contract with the club on September 11, 2014. Back in the USA, Gomes had been trying to catch on with an NBA team in training camp or the summer league, but those efforts were for naught. It will be interesting to see which D-League team Gomes ends up playing with and if he is able to get himself a 10-day call-up. Providence fans could be back to having 2 players in the NBA sooner than expected with Bryce Cotton currently rostered by the Phoenix Suns. Gomes and Marshon Brooks provided a brief time of two former Friars active in the NBA before Brooks went overseas and Gomes was waived.

Just for fun:
