Providence Recruiting Update: Zero Gravity Prep Classic Another Good Local Viewing Opportunity for Friar Staff

Two weeks ago Ed Cooley and his staff got the opportunity to take the short trip down 95 South to New Haven for the National Prep Showcase. That was a great opportunity — a short drive down the road — for Cooley and his coaches to watch, evaluate and be seen by high level recruits. Now in early December, Providence’s coaches have an even more local opportunity to watch, evaluate and be seen by high level recruits with the Zero Gravity Prep Classic taking place this weekend in Barrington, RI at St. Andrew’s — a 20 minute drive from Providence’s Smith Hill campus. Providence is still recruiting hard for 2016 — especially big men — but this will also give the staff a chance to get some face time with some members of the classes of 2017 and 2018. Cox Hub will also have live streams of 3 games Friday night.

As far as 2016 big men go, South Kent has postgraduate Andrew Gordon on their roster. Providence has expressed interest and watched him play at the National Prep Showcase but the Friars have yet to offer the Florida native a scholarship. South Kent also has two players committed to Big East teams in 2016 Myles Powell (Seton Hall) and 2017 Tyler Foster (Georgetown). 2017 Tremont Waters is also at South Kent this season though the Friars haven’t offered the undersized point guard. St. Andrew’s had virtually their entire team behind Providence’s bench on Wednesday night, including 2017 Aaron Wheeler. Wheeler told pcbb1917.com it was his first time at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center and he had a fun night. Providence coaches told Wheeler they will be at his games this weekend.

Some Providence recruits that will play this weekend include:
