Recruiting News: Scout.com Released Post-Summer Class Of 2016 Top 100 Recruit Rankings

The same day that ESPN released their update class of 2016 Top 100 list after the summer grassroots season Scout.com also came out with their updated rankings. Wenyen Gabriel was a major mover in the Scout.com rankings and is the only player to be a new 5-star recruit since the last update. He also catapulted in the top 10 in Scout’s ranking after not even being ranked last time Scout released a Top 100 for this class. Gabriel’s rise has been meteoric.

Scout.com showed more love for Gabriel but not quite as much for other Providence recruits. Bruce Brown and Shamorie Ponds were much more highly thought of in ESPN’s version of rankings while Sedee Keita was ranked 80th overall in ESPN’s and not even close to the top 100 in Scout.com’s. Keita is listed as a 2-star recruit in Scout.com’s database. Having seen him play I don’t see how that’s possible.

Providence Recruits:

  • #10 – Wenyen Gabriel – 6’10 PF – Wilbraham & Monson Academy/Manchester, NH
  • #44 – Bruce Brown – 6’3 SG – Vermont Academy/Wakefield, MA
  • #78 – Shamorie Ponds – 6’3 SG – Thomas Jefferson/Brooklyn, NY

Maliek White appears to be ranked 113th if the rankings continued beyond the Top 100. White is visiting Providence’s campus on October 3rd, along with his River City Reign teammate JJ Matthews.
