LaDontae Henton, Kris Dunn Honorable Mention All-Americans

The AP released their All-American teams on Monday. Not a single player from the Big East conference was named to the 3 All-American teams. Kris Dunn and LaDontae Henton were named Honorable Mention All-Americans, along with Villanova’s Ryan Arcidiacono and Darrun Hilliard.

Of the 49 players named as Honorable Mention All-Americans, Dunn was 1 of 8 players that received at least 1 First-Team vote. Dunn and Henton become the 18th and 19th Providence Friars to receive AP All-American honors, per a tweet from Brendan McGair. Its interesting to note that there are a number of familiar names among the 62 non-Providence players on the 3 teams and Honorable Mentions. Providence played against 8 players, including 2 of the 5 members of the First Team. Former Providence commit Joseph Young also was named an Honorable Mention All-American.

While this was Henton’s final chance to appear on this All-American list, Dunn has two remaining years of eligibility and, should he choose to return to Providence next season, he has a very solid chance of being named a preseason All-American next Fall.

Note: The voting, by the same 65-member media panel that selects the weekly Top 25, was done before the NCAA Tournament.
