2015 Commit Alex Owens Injures Left Knee, Will Miss Remainder of Team’s Season

Providence’s 2015 big man commit Alex Owens injured his knee during his team’s district final loss on February 6th. Owens sat out Oak Ridge’s next game against Vero Beach and tried to give it a go against Winter Park on February 17th but re-injured the knee during pregame warmups, per a story in the Orlando Sentinel.

Owens then tweeted that he would undergo an MRI on his injured left knee on February 18th. The specific results of the MRI aren’t known at this time but Owens later tweeted out that he would be “out for the season”. The severity of the injury is hard to determine from that statement as his team’s season is very close to being over at this point. Owens seems to be taking the injury in good spirits as he calls this a “stepping stone for being prepared to play at Providence.”

As more information is known about the severity of Owens’ left knee injury I’ll be sure to pass the information along.
