Big East Bracketology Update 1/29/15

Thursday means new brackets from both Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm. Lunardi and Palm both still have 6 and 7 Big East teams in their fields, respectively. Some of the seeding has changed since their Monday updates though.

Here is a breakdown of Lunardi’s latest bracket:

• Villanova – #2 seed in East vs. #15 NC Central- AQ for Big East – 8th on S-curve (was 7th)
• Providence – #5 seed in West vs. #12 George Washington/Texas A&M – 20th on S-curve (was 22nd)
• Georgetown – #6 seed in South vs. #11 Tulsa – 22nd on S-curve (was 20th)
• Butler – #6 seed in Midwest vs. #11 Old Dominion – 21st on S-curve (was 24th)
• Seton Hall – #10 seed in South vs. #7 Arkansas – 40th on S-curve – On the Bubble (was 39th)
• Xavier – #10 seed in West vs. #7 Indiana – 38th on S-curve – On the Bubble (was 41st)
• St. John’s – OUT – 71st on S-curve – First 4 Out (was 69th – First 4 Out)

Lunardi continues to have the same 6 Big East teams in his field of 68 and St. John’s continues to be just on the outside looking in and part of the First Four Out. Providence moved up a line to the 5 seed group while Georgetown moved down from 5 to 6. Seton Hall stayed on the same 10 line but Xavier has moved up from 11 to 10.
