LaDontae Henton Named Big East Player of the Week

For the second time this season but first time since Big East play has started Providence senior LaDontae Henton has been named Big East Player of the Week by the league. The two weekly honors this season are the only two times he has been Big East POW in his career.

Sophomore Kris Dunn was also named Big East Player of the Week two weeks ago.

Henton went for 24 points and 10 rebounds in Providence’s overtime win over Xavier on Thursday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in the team’s only game last week. That was Henton’s 3rd double-double this season and the 28th of his illustrious career at Providence College.

For the season, Henton is leading the Big East in scoring at 21.2 points/game. That also ranks him 6th in the nation. He is also averaging 5.7 rebounds/game in 36.3 minutes/game.

Henton was also named to the mid-season watch list of the Lute Olson Award last week.

Other weekly award winners this week were:
