Bracketology Update 1/24/15

Joe Lunardi will be doing a weekly Saturday article with his “Bracket Math” and then he’ll breakdown the weekend’s most important games with teams that would be “In With a Win”, “Out Without” and who has the “Most at Stake” which could describe a team that would lose any chance of getting into the NCAA Tournament or just a team whose seeding could be affected by a win or loss.

Here is a breakdown of Palm’s latest “Bracket Math”:

• Villanova – #2 seed – 6th on S-curve
• Georgetown – #5 seed – 20th on S-curve – AQ for Big East
• Providence – #6 seed – 22nd on S-curve
• Butler – #6 seed – 24th on S-curve
• Seton Hall – #9 seed – 33rd on S-curve – On the Bubble
• Xavier – #12 seed – 45th on S-curve – Last Four In
• St. John’s – #12 seed – 46th on S-curve – Last Four In

Lunardi continues to have 7 Big East teams in the field but clearly Xavier and St. John’s are on shaky footing as part of the “Last Four In” category. Lunardi identified Xavier as a team that will be “Out Without” a win this weekend. The Musketeers take on DePaul at 12pm on Fox Sports 1. Seton Hall is also “on the bubble” as teams 32 through 47 on the s-curve are considered to be the 15 bubble teams in the field while teams 69 through 81 are on the wrong side of that bubble right now.

The appeal of BracketMatrix.com is that they are sort of like a composite bracket.
