How Are The Recruits Playing? Drew Edwards

Drew Edwards‘ Calvert Hall team entered his senior season coming off a 29-7 record the prior year. They have played 8 games so far through action on December 14th and are 6-2 on the season.

Edwards is averaging 18 points/game including games a 34 point performance in his team’s last game against Gonzaga (MD) on Sunday in the 3rd place game of the Gonzaga DC Classic. Edwards shot 12/19 from the field including 4/8 from beyond the arc in the 1 point victory. He scored 21 of his 34 points in the second half.

Edwards was named to the All-Tournament Team and averaged 17.3 points/game in the tournament.

Earlier this season on December 5th Edwards scored his 1,000th point at Calvert Hall. Edwards is the kind of versatile perimeter player that Ed Cooley is looking for. He is someone that can handle the ball and shoot it from the outside. Cooley has shown that he likes having multiple guys on the floor at the same time who can handle the ball and a team can never have enough shooters. I think Edwards was a great pickup in this class and will be a very good 4-year program player for Ed Cooley.

Here is the full game video of that 34 point game. Edwards is #25 in the cardinal and gold:

    1. No I would say he would be more along the lines of a 3*. He didn’t play for a big, sponsored AAU program so he probably didn’t get the attention of some other players. IMO, this is another player Cooley and his staff will be credited with “finding” that will turn into a very good college player.
