Friars.com story with boxscore
- August 19th in Rome at 1pm EDT
http://www.friars.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/082014aaa.html
With Ben Bentil and Paschal Chukwu having visa/clearinghouse issues and not making the trip and Jalen Lindsey being home in Tennessee with mononucleosis, the only member of the highly touted incoming freshman class that will compete in Italy is point guard Kyron Cartwright. Cartwright figures to play heavy minutes as the staff is being extremely cautious by not playing Kris Dunn as he continues to recover from his second shoulder surgery in 13 months. Aside from basketball there are a ton of cultural and education experiences planned. A good outline of those was done by Danny James over at CoxHub. You can find that by click this link.

If you are looking for updates on Twitter, the hashtag #CiaoFriars will be used heavily by CoxHub. The standard #pcbb will still be used as well so you can keep an eye on both. One emerging one so far has also been #pcbbDoesItaly so check that one too.

The group flew out of Newark, NJ August 12th just before 6pm EDT after practicing near the airport. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein took in the practice and had the following to say on Twitter:
Greetings from Providence practice! Here to check out the Friars before they head to Italy for a foreign tour. pic.twitter.com/MsLRWXh8lf
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
The first thing that immediately stands out for Providence? Size and length. Friars are huge at almost every position. Expect some zone.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
Tyler Harris has gained approximately 10-12 pounds, per Providence's staff. Noticeably stronger and broader in the shoulders. 4th-yr junior.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
An under-the-radar key piece for Providence? Cleveland St transfer Junior Lomomba. Will be Friars' secondary ball handler behind Kris Dunn.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
Palpable buzz at Providence surrounding freshman PF Ben Bentil. Beyond physically imposing. Will be in discussion for Big East ROY.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
Early prediction on Providence's starting five — Kris Dunn, Rodney Bullock, Tyler Harris, LaDontae Henton, Carson Derosiers….
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
Providence's front court depth is impressive, but the Friars' lack of back court experience is a major concern. Perimeter is an UNKNOWN.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
Can Providence make outside shots consistently? TBD. Friars have a lot of shot makers to replace after losing Cotton, Fortune, + Batts.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
LaDontae Henton has tightened his handle. Should be able to initiate more off the bounce. One of America's least appreciated players.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 12, 2014
Paschal Chukwu is significantly ahead of where Hasheem Thabeet was a freshman. 7-2. It's not the shots he blocks, it's the shots he alters.
