Right now the seeding is as follows:
1. Villanova
2. Creighton
3. Providence/Xavier
4. Xavier/Providence
5. St. John’s
6. Marquette
7. Georgetown
8. Seton Hall
9. Butler/DePaul
10. DePaul/Butler
Here are the seeding scenarios for those that aren’t locked in:
- 3/4 seed: If Providence wins tonight at Creighton, they will be the 3 seed playing 6 seed Marquette on Thursday night at 9:30pm and Xavier will be the 4 seed playing 5 seed St. John’s on Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm. If Providence loses tonight at Creighton, Xavier will be the 3 seed playing 6 seed Marquette and Providence will be the 4 seed playing 5 seed St. John’s.
- 9/10 seed: If Butler loses to Seton Hall today, they would have the same conference record, 3-15, as DePaul but DePaul would be the 9 seed due to a 1-1 record against St. John’s (DePaul and Butler split their own season series 1-1 so tiebreakers goes to record against the highest team. Both teams are 0-2 vs. the top 4 in the league but DePaul is 1-1 against 5 seed St. John’s and Butler is 0-2 against them). If Butler wins today against Seton Hall, they will be the 9 seed by virtue of having 1 more league win than DePaul.
