Makai Ashton-Langford Moves Up Visit to Providence

Multiple sources have informed pcbb1917.com that 2017 point guard Makai Ashton-Langford has moved up his visit to Providence — originally scheduled for September 17th — to Wednesday, August 31st. He is expected on campus as early as 1pm. This comes on the heels of Ashton-Langford moving up his visit to UConn from September 10th to September 3rd. The September 3rd visit was originally supposed to be taken to Louisville but the Cardinals got a pledge from another point guard in the class of 2017 and were removed from consideration by the Worcester native.

UPDATE 1:43pm, 8/31: I was told today’s visit is not an official visit for Ashton-Langford.

The rumor mill has been strongly churning over the last few days that Ashton-Langford was leaning towards the Huskies and there were even rumors that the 6’1 lead guard was planning to give his verbal commitment to Kevin Ollie before leaving the Storrs campus this weekend. If those rumors were accurate and got back to Ed Cooley, it could explain his desire to move the Providence visit ahead of the UConn one so he could get his final pitch in to the soon-to-be post-graduate student at Brewster Academy.

Providence and UConn have long been looked at as the top two schools under consideration for Ashton-Langford, who has been long believed to want to attend college close to  home. On August 24th, that became the official position of the Mass Rivals guard as he tweeted the following photo:
