Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: November 30th

This is officially Week 4 of the college basketball polls and it also happens to be the week Providence makes their 2015-16 debut in both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Friars had a 3-1 week that included an impressive showing in the Wooden Legacy Tournament. They defeated NJIT on Monday night before heading out West to take on Evansville in the tournament opener.

Providence took care of a solid Evansville squad with one of the best scoring guards in the nation to set up a matchup with then 11th-ranked Arizona. Providence beat the Wildcats with a great finishing 4 minutes by Kris Dunn to advance to the tournament championship against then 3rd-ranked Michigan State. The Spartans closed out the game well and won but Providence led for much of the game and hung tough with the heavily favored Spartans. Those efforts got Providence some love from the voters in both polls. Providence debuts in the AP Poll at 23rd and 24th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.
