Kris Dunn Gets Nod as Big East Player of the Week Again

The Big East had a very successful week as a league during “Feast Week”. There were 4 Big East teams that won their respective holiday tournaments (Creighton, Marquette, Villanova and Xavier) and Providence finished 2nd in the Wooden Legacy Tournament. Through the first few weeks of the season the Big East is 45-14 (.763) against non-league opponents. On Monday, the Big East released their weekly awards and for the second time in three weeks the Big East Player of the Week is Kris Dunn.

Dunn , who won this award a total of two times last season, led Providence to a 3-1 week with wins over NJIT, Evansville and (11) Arizona. The lone loss came on Sunday night in the Wooden Legacy championship to (3) Michigan State. Dunn averaged 20.0 points/game, 7.3 assists/game, 5.5 rebounds/game and 3.0 steals/game for the Friars last week. Other award winners were Marquette’s Henry Ellenson being named Freshman of the Week who averaged a double-double last week en route to Marquette winning Legends Classic with wins over (22) LSU and Arizona State. Ellenson was named the tournament’s MVP. Kellen Dunham (Butler), Cole Huff (Creighton), Luke Fischer (Marquette), Jalen Brunson (Villanova) and Trevon Bluiett (Xavier) make up this week’s Honor Roll.
