2015 Ricky Council Makes It Official, Signs National Letter of Intent with Providence

Ricky Council made his commitment to Providence official on Wednesday by signing his National Letter of Intent. Council joins a 4-player class coming into Friartown in the Fall of 2015. “Ricky will be a great addition to our program,” Ed Cooley said. “Ricky is the type of player who can help our team from the perimeter as he is an elite shooter. He really matured and got stronger over the last year.”

Council graduated from his local public high school in Durham, NC in 2014 and spent 2015 doing a post-graduate year at nearby Moravian Prep in Hickory, NC. Council’s coach at Moravian Prep told Evan Daniels of Scout.com that Council shot 45% from beyond the arc this season and averaged over 29 points/game. Council chose Providence over offers from Clemson, Creighton, Georgia Tech, Marquette, NC State and Tulsa, among others.
