Big East Bracketology Update 2/2/15

Monday brackets are out courtesy of Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm. The weekend of games saw some upsets and teams have moved around a bit as a result. Let’s get right into it.

Here is a breakdown of Lunardi’s latest bracket:

  • Villanova – #2 seed in East vs. #15 High Point- AQ for Big East
  • Providence – #6 seed in Sout vs. #11 Colorado St
  • Georgetown – #6 seed in Midwest vs. #11 Tulsa
  • Butler – #6 seed in West vs. #11 Ole Miss/Old Dominion
  • Seton Hall – #9 seed in South vs. #8 Michigan State
  • Xavier – #9 seed in West vs. #8 San Diego St
  • St. John’s – #12 seed in West vs. #12 NC State – Last 4 In

Lunardi has 7 Big East teams back in the field with St. John’s getting in with their win over Providence on Saturday. The Red Storm are hanging on by a thread though and will need to have a strong February to get on more steady ground for the NCAA Tournament. The Friars dropped a seed line following their loss to the Red Storm while Georgetown and Butler stood pat as 6 seeds. Moving up in the world this week is Seton Hall and Xavier who both jumped up a line to be 9 seeds.

Here’s a breakdown of Palm’s latest bracket:

  • Villanova – #2 seed in Midwest vs. #15 William & Mary
  • Butler – #4 seed in South vs. #13 Murray State
  • Georgetown – #5 seed in Midwest vs. #12 Mississippi/Temple
  • Providence – #7 seed in West vs. #10 Texas
  • Seton Hall – #7 seed in Sout vs. #10 Iowa
  • Xavier – #10 seed in East vs. #7 Ohio State
  • St. John’s – #11 seed in West vs. #6 Arkansas

Villanova stays in the exact same spot on Palm’s latest bracket while Butler slides up from a 5 to a 4 seed. Georgetown held its ground as a 5 seed and Providence held its ground as a 7 seed. Seton Hall made a 2 line jump up to a 7 seed and Xavier dropped a line to a 10 seed. St. John’s sticks on the 11 line.
