Providence Guard Kris Dunn is Big East Player of the Week

The Big East conference announced their weekly honors on Monday, January 12th and Providence’s Kris Dunn was named Big East Player of the Week.

Dunn averaged 20.5 points/game, 7.5 assists/game, 5.5 rebounds/game and 40.5 minutes/game in Providence’s 2 wins last week. Dunn was a catalyst in both games, including scoring 20 of his career high 25 points in the second half of a road win at Butler. Dunn also scored 8 of Providence’s 10 points in overtime in their win against Georgetown on Saturday.

Dunn is off to an impressive start to the Big East season and is leading the league in assists and steals and those marks are good for 5th (assists) and 9th (steals) nationally. This is the first time in his career Dunn has been named Big East Player of the Week. Dunn becomes the second Friar named the league’s Player of the Week with LaDontae Henton receiving the honor on November 24th.
