It’s Official, All 3 Committed 2015 Recruits Signed for Providence Friars

The official release came down Tuesday following the submission of the final National Letter of Intent (NLI) by Marquette Catholic’s Ryan Fazekas who had a signing ceremony at the school earlier this afternoon. 247sports lists Providence’s 2015 composite class national ranking at 47th which is good for 4th in the Big East behind Marquette (6th), Villanova (19th) and Georgetown (26th).

PC on Alex Owens:

Owens, a 6-foot-8-inch, 240-pound forward attends Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla., and plays for Head Coach Alex Jackson.  He is ranked as the No. 90 top recruit in the nation, according to ESPN.com.  He also is ranked No. 88 by CBSSports.com (247 sports.com) and No. 109 by Rivals.com.  ESPN.com has him ranked No. 19 by position, while CBSSports.com ranks Owens as the 23rd-best power forward in the country, and Scout.com ranks him as the 28th-best power forward.  Owens averaged 17.0 points, 15.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 2013-14 playing in Class 8A.  He also shot 64 percent from the field as a junior.  Owens recorded 27 double-doubles in the 29 games he played last season.  In recognition of his efforts, he earned First Team All-City of Palms, First Team All-County and Second Team All-State accolades in 2013-14.  Owens played for Each 1 Teach 1 AAU team under coaches Edward Francis and Steve Reece Jr.

PC on Drew Edwards:

Edwards, a 6-foot-3-inch, 175-pound combo guard attends Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, Md., and plays for Head Coach John Bauersfeld.  As a junior, he averaged 15.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  Edwards helped lead Calvert Hall to a 28-6 record in 2013-14 and a berth in the Baltimore Catholic League championship game.  The team also participated in the prestigious Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament at Frostburg State.  Edwards earned First Team All-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference and All-Baltimore Catholic League honors.  He played for MD 3D AAU Team under Head Coach Dave Thurston.

PC on Ryan Fazekas:

Fazekas, a 6-foot-8-inch, 190-pound shooting guard attends Marquette Catholic High School in Michigan City, Ind., and plays for Head Coach Donovan Garletts.  Last season, he helped Marquette Catholic capture the Division 1A state title and post an 18-6 record.  Fazekas scored 34 points and registered seven three pointers in the championship game.  His seven three pointers established an Indiana High School championship record.  As a junior, he led the team in scoring (15.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg).  Fazekas shot 56 percent from the field and 81 percent from the free-throw line in 2013-14.  He earned Indiana Junior All-Star honors and First Team All-Conference accolades in 2013-14.  He has scored 985 career points and is a top-5 candidate for Mr. Indiana Basketball honors.  Fazekas played for the Mean Streets AAU team under coaches Tai Streets and Chris Buggs.
